Right Thinking

Have you ever heard the saying, “Thinking makes it so.” Well, this saying contains a lot of truth. Of course, we all know that thinking is not enough. We must apply action to our thoughts. But thinking is where all success starts.

Our thoughts are powerful weapons. They can produce success or they can produce failure. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 23: 7 that “as a man thinks, so is he.”

Have you ever really considered the meaning of that verse? It is powerful and has life-long repercussions. So, let me ask you: How are you thinking? What are you thinking? What is your thinking doing to you?

In her ground-breaking book, Who Switched Off My Brain, Dr. Caroline Leaf discusses the formation of thoughts in the brain and how we can control them. Current brain science is increasingly confirming the truth of God’s Word: As we think, so are we.

It behooves us, therefore, to think right thoughts. What are right thoughts? The answer is found in Philippians 4: 8:

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
